John J. Kamandulis was born on August 21, 1913, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was the son of Adam Kamandulis and Benedikta (Bartusevich) Kamandulis.

John enlisted in the Army on February 9, 1942, and at the time of his death, was serving in Company A, 51st Infantry Battalion, 4th Armored Division, as a Private First Class. He was killed in Pont-Scorff, France, on August 7, 1944, and is now buried in the Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.
