He enlisted in the Army on July 14, 1943, and at the time of his death, was serving in the HQ Company, 704th Tank Destroyer Battalion, as a Private. He was killed in Pont-Scorff, France, on August 7, 1944, and is now buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, Georgia, USA.
