George Washington Menkello was born on February 22, 1920, in Medford, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Army on January 27, 1942, and at the time of his death, was serving in the Military Police Company, 4th Armored Division as a Private. He was killed in Pont-Scorff, France, on August 7, 1944, and is now buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum, Malden, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA.
