Arthur Clarence Davis was born on March 15, 1922, in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. He served in the 81st Fighter Squadron, 50th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the P-47 #42-25904 'Lethal Liz II' during World War II.

On August 17, 1944, 2Lt Davis took off from A-17 airfield in Méautis, France, for an armed reconnaissance mission. During a low-altitude attack on a tank truck, he hit the treetops with the right wing and hit the ground, causing the plane to explode. 2Lt Davis did not survive. He is now buried in the Grandview Cemetery, Southmont, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, USA.
