Kenneth Eugene Sims was born on January 21, 1923, in Newark, Ohio. He was the son of Ellis K. Sims and Vivian Ruth Parker Sims.
Kenneth served in the 313th Fighter Squadron, 50th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the P-47 #42-26007 during World War II. On August 23, 1944, he took off from A-17 airfield in Méautis, France, for an armed reconnaissance mission in St-Amand-des-Hautes-Terres. He flew in the no. 2 position of the Blue section led by Major John R Finnegan. At 9:00 PM, 2Lt Sims was shot down by flak during a road convoy strafing pass. His plane crashed between St-Amand-des-Hautes-Terres and La Haye-du-Theil. He is now buried in the Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA.
