Lt Parsons flew on a group flight with Lieutenants Suttle, Bur, and Campbell on 28 August 1944 for a strafing mission over Saarbrücken, Germany. Having their objectives been reached, the P51 Mustangs rejoined the formation except for Lt Ferris Suttle. Flying at too low altitude, Lt Suttle's plane hit the top of a tree along the Avenue des Vosges and crashed in a nearby field, killing Lt Suttle.
