Winfield Calvin Hannah was born on September 17, 1917, in Endeavor, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Carl Hugh Hannah and Hazel A. Allio Hannah. He was the husband of Madaline Amelie McKay Hannah Summerville.

Winfield served in the 10th Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on January 19, 1945, during the liberation of Putscheid, Luxembourg. Pvt Hannah is now buried in the Luxembourg American Cemetery, Luxembourg.
