Born on May 5, 1949, in Toronto, Canada, Harry was the son of Lila L. Kellar Huffman and the step-son of Fern Huffman of New Westminister, BC, the son of Raymond Golley. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps on March 8, 1968, in Seattle, WA. He arrived in Vietnam on September 30, 1968, and was assigned for duty with Company I, 3d Battalion, 5th Marine, 1st MAR DIV (Rein) FMF.

During a road sweep northeast of the An Hoa Combat Base in the Duy Xuyen District of Quang Nam Province, PFC Kellar, who was a member of the security patrol, tripped and activated a mine causing the BT (Booby Trap) hidden 105mm artillery shell to detonate near the Phu Nhuan village complex. The explosion killed the young Marine from multiple fragmentation wounds.
