Rob George McSorley was born on March 26, 1951, in Westmount, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Peter Douglas McSorley and Charlotte June Leona Wilson McSorley.

Rob was a member of L Company (Ranger), 75th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile). He was from Vancouver and attended Templeton Secondary School. Rob enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 and was killed while on a reconnaissance mission near Khe Sahn about a week after his 19th birthday.

Rob's name is on the Canadian Vietnam Veterans Memorial (The North Wall) in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Also, his name is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC, on Panel 12W, Line 107.
