Gaetan Jean Guy Beaudoin was born on September 5, 1948, in Sherbrooke, Estrie Region, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Robert L. Beaudoin and Cecile T. Lessard Beaudoin.

SGT Beaudoin was a New Hampshire National Guardsman called up to serve in South Vietnam. Only a few days before they were to return home, he and four others were killed when their 5-ton truck hit a land mine on Highway 13, known as "Thunder Road," about 32 miles from Saigon.
