Dixie Green Jackson was born on April 17, 1917, in Ringling, Oklahoma. He was the son of Lucian Boneparte Jackson and Francis Louisa Braddleton Hargis Jackson. He was married to Mildred Maxine Shrader Carter.

At the time of his death, Dixie was serving in the 82nd Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group, as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on the P-47 Thunderbolt #41-6222 "Mud Creeker" during World War II. On July 14, 1943, he took off at Station 357 airfield in Duxford, England, to escort bombers on a raid to Amiens Airdrome in France. At 07:51, his plane was shot down by Fw190 hunters. 2Lt Jackson ejected from his airplane but was reportedly killed during or after parachute descent. Other sources say that his parachute did not open.

2Lt Jackson is now buried in the Ringling Memorial Cemetery, Ringling, Jefferson County, Oklahoma, USA. He bears the rank of First Lieutenant on his headstone.
