                            Raymond Michael Durkan was born on January 15, 1925, in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He served in HQ Company, 50th Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was one of the 75 soldiers killed during the liberation of Plabennec and Plouvien, France. PFC Durkan is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery, Montjoie Saint Martin, France.
