William Hannigan Broderick was born on June 28, 1918, in New Hampshire. He was the son of Catherine O'Connor Hannigan.

He resided in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, prior to the war., He enlisted in the Army on May 1, 1942, in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Driver and also as a Single, without dependents.

William served in the 782nd Bomber Squadron, 465th Bomber Group, as a Staff Sergeant and Gunner on the B-24G #42-78322 during World War II.

On August 3, 1944, his crew took off from Pantanella, Italy, on a bombing mission over Friedrichshafen, Germany. On their return, they were attacked and shot down by German aircraft. His aircraft crashed 200m north of the Lermoos Village Church, region of Tyrol, Austria. None of the crew members survived.

SSgt Broderick is now buried in the Exeter Cemetery, Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA.
