Anthony J. Zalewski was born on January 1, 1920, in Shady Side, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He was the son of Julian Zalewski and Wiktoria Zalewski.

At the time of his death, Anthony was a passenger on the C-47 #43-48611. On January 18, 1945, he was killed in an air crash when they took off from A-54 airfield in Le Bourget, France, to be transported to Station 343 in Biggin Hill, England. Due to an unknown reason, the aircraft crashed approximately 7 minutes later after they took off. Eighteen people were killed in this accident, while four were seriously injured.
