Harold E. Coulthard was born on March 13, 1917, in Elk Grove, Lafayette County, Wisconsin. He was the son of William Thomas Coulthard and Margaret T Cullen Coulthard.

Harold served in the 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He died on September 5, 1944, and is now buried in the Rhone American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
