Milburn Franklin Travis was born on July 12, 1922, in Cannon County, Tennessee. He was the son of Dave Lonnie Travis and Lucy Mack Odom Travis. He was the husband of Lera Perry Bradshaw.
Milburn served in the 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 1, 1944, during the Liberation of Meximieux, France. Pvt Travis is now buried in the Rhone American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
