Edward A. Le Maire was born on December 21, 1912, in Cohoes, Albany County, New York. He was the son of Alfred LeMaire and Frances O'Reilly LeMaire.

Edward served in the 120th Engineer Combat Battalion, 45th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 1, 1944, during the Liberation of Meximieux, France. Pvt Le Maire is now buried in the Rhone American Cemetery and Memorial, France.
