Clinton Lloyd “Clint” Bitton was born on September 13, 1915, in Riverside, Bingham County, Idaho. He was the son of Louis A. Bitton and Zina Williams Bitton. He was the husband of Esther Aileen Pendlebury Bitton.

Clinton served in the 366th Bomber Squadron, 305th Bomb Group, Heavy, as a Technical Sergeant and Flight Engineer/ Top Turret Gunner on the B-17 #42-3195 during World War II. He survived an air crash on October 14, 1943, when his airplane was shot down by a German fighter plane Ofw. Heckmann 1./JG1 and crashed at Waldenrath, Germany. He was taken as a POW.
