Volney Edward Beekler was born on December 11, 1917, in New Jersey. He was the son of Volney D. Beekler and Marion Beekler.

Volney Edward enlisted in Delanco, New Jersey, on October 16, 1940. At the time of his death, he was serving in Company C, 2nd Ranger Battalion. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 26, at Pointe de la Perc�e, during the American assault on Omaha beach in France. PFC Beekler is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
