Charles Handel Bellows, Jr. was born on December 22, 1923. He was the husband of Dorothy E. Chura Bellows.
Charles enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 26, 1943. He served in Company E, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 20, at Pointe du Hoc, during the American assault on Omaha and Utah beaches in France. He is now buried in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA. His name is commemorated on the Rangers Memorial Plaque at Pointe du Hoc, Cricqueville-en-Bessin, France, but his middle initial is inscribed as E.
