Harold Eugene Clendenin was born on September 19, 1920, in Nicholas County, West Virginia. He was the son of Andrew Milton Clendenin and Lillie Rozella Allen Clendenin.
Harold attended Waterloo High School. He enlisted in Fort Hayes, Ohio, in September 1942. He served in Company C, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at Pointe de la Percée, during the American assault on Omaha beach in France. PFC Clendenin is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
