Robert G. Davis was born on September 7, 1920, in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Theresa Samson Davis.
Robert was graduated from Central Catholic High School. He enlisted in the Army on July 20, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a compositor and typesetter and also as a Single, without dependents.
He served in Company A, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 23, in Vierville-sur-Mer, during the American assault on Omaha beach in France. SSgt Davis is now buried in the Calvary Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, USA.
