Henry Stanley �Steve� Golas, from Providence County, Rhode Island, was born on January 9, 1918, in Fitchburg, Worcester County, Massachusetts.

Henry had one year of high school and had a civil occupation as a Guard. He was single without dependents upon enlistment. He enlisted at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, on February 3, 1942. He served in Company C, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a First Sergeant during World War II. 1Sgt Golas was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 26, at Pointe de la Perc�e, during the American assault on Omaha beach in France. He is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
