Leslie Milton Irvin was born on September 1, 1920, in Potomac, Vermilion County, Illinois. He was the son of George Milton Irvin and Freda M. Powell Irvin.
Leslie enlisted in Peoria, Illinois, on September 29, 1942. He served in Company C, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at Pointe de la Percée, during the American assault on Omaha beach in France. PFC Irvin is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
