George Paniaha was born on July 20, 1920, in Manifold, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Michael Paniaha and Martha Furinczki Paniaha.
He had one year of high school, had a civil occupation as a general farmer, and was single without dependents upon enlistment. He entered military service in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on July 20, 1942. George served in Company B, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 23, in Vierville-sur-Mer, during the American assault on Omaha Beach in France. He is now buried in the Saint Luke's Cemetery, Bentleyville, Washington County, Pennsylvania, USA.
