Michael �Musty� Vetovich was born on October 23, 1921, in Burgettstown, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Teofil Vetovich and Natalie Vetovich.

Michael had four years of high school, had a civil occupation as a machinist apprentice, and was single without dependents upon enlistment. He entered military service in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on October 6, 1942. He served in Company B, 2nd Ranger Battalion, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944, at the age of 22, in Vierville-sur-Mer, during the American assault on Omaha Beach in France. SSgt Vetovich is now buried in the Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-Sur-Mer, France.
