Frank P. De Cillis was born on February 16, 1925, in Westfield, Union County, New Jersey. He was the son of Alfonso Decillis and Clara Colombina Decillis.

Frank served in the 568th Bomber Squadron, 390th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Technical Sergeant and Engineer/ Top Turret Gunner on the B-17 #43-38175 “I’ll Be Seeing You” during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 18, 1944, when his aircraft was shot down by German artillery during a mission in Warsaw, Poland. He is now buried in the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery in Italy.
