James Donald Christy was born on October 2, 1920. He was the son of Alice Fessler.
James served in the 568th Bomber Squadron, 390th Bomber Group, Heavy, as a Sergeant during World War II. A passenger on the B-17 #43-38175 “I’ll Be Seeing You,” he became a POW on September 18, 1944, when his aircraft was shot down by German artillery during a mission in Warsaw, Poland. He was sent to Stalag Luft IV in Gross Tychow, Poland.
