Frederick Henry “Harry” Blake was born on September 30, 1916, in Montreal, Montreal Region, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Frederick Herbert and Mary Annie Blake of Dallas, Oregon, U.S.A. He was the husband of Barbara Blake.

Frederick served as a Warrant Officer in the #158 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 3, 1943, when his Halifax II DT795 aircraft took off from Lissett, England, and crashed at 2246H onto a dyke at Wapenweld (Gelderland) 10 km SSW of Zwolle, Holland (The Netherlands). His airplane was shot down by flak and all seven members of their crew were killed.
