William Fleming Borrett, of Los Angeles, California, was born on December 9, 1915, in Winnipeg, Greater Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was the son of Roger Fleming Borrett.
During World War II, he served in the #415 Swordfish Squadron (Ad Metaim) of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Lieutenant (Pilot). He was Killed in Action on January 16, 1945, during his mission at Magdeburg, Germany. Borrett stayed at the controls of his Halifax III NR253 aircraft to allow his crew to bail out; he went down with the aircraft.
