James Ernest Brown was born on July 23, 1925, in Saskatchewan, Canada. He was the son of W. T. Brown and Anna L. Brown, of Wichita, Kansas.
James served in the #1659 Heavy Conversion Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on September 1, 1944, when his Halifax aircraft took off with one engine on fire and crashed one mile from the airfield at Topcliffe, Yorkshire, England.
