Cuthbert Worcester Graham Burke, of Washington, D. C., was born on December 16, 1913, in Panama City, Panama. He served in the 425 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Warrant Officer II (Air Bomber) during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 8, 1943, when his Halifax aircraft #LW 500 was shot down by a German flak ship off Dieppe, France, during a trip to Nuremberg, Germany. Six RAF members of the crew were also killed. This was P/O Burke’s fourth operation and his was one of the 108 Allied aircraft lost this night.
