William Arthur Cook, of Buffalo, New York, was born in Manitoba, Canada. He was the son of William Arthur and Mary Cook; husband of Irene Margaret Cook, of Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

William served in the 429 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer (Nav.) during World War II. He was killed during his 3rd operation in Berlin, Germany, on January 29, 1944. Cook's aircraft was reported as having been shot down at Gulitz, 17 miles SSW of Parchim, Germany.
