                            Donald Joseph Curtin was born on January 20, 1918, in New York County, New York. He was the son of James J. Curtin, D.D.S., and Julia M. Curtin.
He enlisted in Ottawa, Ontario, on May 5, 1941. He trained at No.1 ITS and graduated on August 11, 1941); at No.12 EFTS and graduated on September 25, 1941); and at No.5 SFTS and graduated on September 12, 1941. He received his commission in December 1941.
Donald served in the 106 (R.A.F.) Sqdn (Pro Libertate) of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Lieutenant during World War II. He was killed on February 25, 1943, when his Lancaster aircraft #R 4886 was shot down near the target Nuremberg, at Fuerth, Germany.
