Joseph Erwin Godwin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was the son of Clarence William and Margaret Mary Godwin. He served in the #407 Demon Squadron (To Hold on High) of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. He was declared Missing in Action on September 27, 1943, when his Wellington aircraft # HF 124 failed to return from an anti-sub patrol over the Bay of Biscay.
