Arthur Edgar Emile Gourdeau, of Hollywood, California, was born on March 18, 1919, in Montreal, Montreal Region, Quebec, Canada. He served in the #427 Lion Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II.

On March 31, 1944, his crew took off at 22h05 from RAF Leeming, England, on a target mission to Nuremberg, Germany. Outbound and south of track, their plane was shot down by a night fighter, causing their aircraft to crash at Hohenroth, 3 km west-southwest of Bad Neustadt an der Saale, Germany. Flying Officer Gourdeau was killed in this incident.
