William Wiltshire Bomar, Jr. was born on April 15, 1922, in Amarillo, Potter County, Texas. He attended Eagle Rock High School in Los Angeles. At the time of his death, he was serving in the Insular Patrol of the United States Marine Corps in Guam during World War II. He died as a POW on December 10, 1941, in the Japanese-captured Marine Barracks Naval Station of Guam.
