Charles Robert Hasekian was born on May 12, 1920, in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. He was the son of John and Rose Hasekian.

Charles served in the 83 (R.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. He was one of four aircrew members killed as a result of the crash of Avro Lancaster (#R5857) aircraft; the Lancaster crashed on take-off at Mildenhall, Suffolk, England. Three airmen were injured in the accident, three perished in the crash and one airman died of his injuries several days later. The fatalities were:-
RAFVR Flight Sergeant Donald Paul GOOBY,
RCAF Flight Sergeant Charles Robert HASEKIAN,
RAFVR Flight Sergeant Thomas Gardner IRVINE and
RAFVR Warrant Officer George John STOCK.
