Harold Albert Horton was the son of Ralph Garret Horton and Johanna Grace Horton, of Brooklyn, New York. He served in the 467 (R.A.A.F.) Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant during World War II. He was killed on January 8, 1943, when his Lancaster I ED367 aircraft failed to return from an attack against Duisburg, Germany. Flight Sergeant Horton's body was never found.
