Faris Clyde Main was born on August 7, 1920, in Vancouver, Greater Vancouver Regional District, British Columbia, Canada. He was the son of Clyde and Margaret Main, of Eureka, California, United States.

Faris served in the #11 Operational Training Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Warrant Officer Second Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 26, 1942, when his Wellington Ic R1078, which took off at 23h16 of June 25 from Steeple Morden, was shot down by an ME110. The aircraft crashed near Rheine where those who were killed were first buried.
