Mervyn "Merv" Levin was born on September 4, 1922, to Nathan Levin and Lena Snyder in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

On December 22, 1941, Merv enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was admitted and began his training as a radio operator. After completing his training, Merv was assigned to the 790th Bomb Squadron, 467th Bomb Group stationed at RAF Rackheath in England. From here, Merv and his crew flew several missions against Germany.

During Merv's last mission, he managed to leave the aircraft in time. Merv was soon captured and taken to a prisoner-of-war camp where he served the rest of the war.

After the liberation, Merv returned to America. He married Doris Harriet Weinberg in 1947. Together they had four children.

Merv died on September 26, 2014, in Nevada. He was buried at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota.
