Alfred Joseph Parkyn was born on November 6, 1915, in Bergen County, New Jersey. He was the son of Alfred William Parkyn and Suzanne Berthe "Susan" Metz Parkyn.

Alfred served in the 207 Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Pilot Officer during World War II. He was declared Missing in Action on November 25, 1942, after the crew of his Lancaster aircraft (R5695) took off from RAF Station, Langer, and were never heard from again. His body was never found.
