Mardyth Wesley Sanderson of Mitchell, Nebraska, served in the 429 “Bison” Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Lieutenant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 6, 1945, when his crew, aboard the Halifax aircraft # LV 996, was returning from the target and crashed near Halling, Kent, England.
Flight Lieutenant Sanderson is now buried in the Brookwood Military Cemetery, England. He has cenotaphs in the Armada Cemetery, Nebraska, and is also commemorated on a monument in the Old Holy Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Canada.
