Paul Bevens Stevens was born on April 19, 1918, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the son of Emery G. Stevens and Hazel B. Stevens, of Euclid, Ohio.

Paul served in the #1674 Heavy Conversion Unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer during World War II. He was Killed in Action on April 12, 1944, when his Halifax aircraft #BB 310 was on a night training exercise when it crashed into a hill ten miles east of Penrith, Little Dale near the Silver Band Mine, Cumberland, Scotland.
