Raymond Pettice Arnold was born on February 6, 1917. He was the son of James Harris Arnold Sr. and Bettie Anderson Arnold. He was the husband of Marie Smith Arnold. He was a graduate of Emory University, Atlanta.
Arnold entered the service on March 8, 1943, and took his first training at Dartmouth and later at Princeton as an Ensign. He served in the U.S.S. Ormsby, U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant ( Junior Class ) during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
