William Louis Baltzell Sr. was born on January 9, 1918, in Mansfield, Richland County, Ohio. He was the son of William Howard Baltzell and Myrtle Arue Hannan Baltzell. He was married to Martha Smith Castor.
He served in the 306th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 12, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
