George Arthur Boyce was born on October 30, 1916, in Springvale, York County, Maine. He was the son of Lewis Lorn Boyce and Florence Izetta Wetherell Boyce. He was the husband of Charlotte Pauline Manville.

He graduated from the Sanford High School in 1934. He enlisted in the Army on March 27, 1942. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Shoemaker and/or shoe repairman. He served in Company G, 307th Infantry, 77th Infantry Division, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was Killed in Action on August 3, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
