Bernard Nathan Brende was born on November 4, 1921. He was the son of Joseph Gudmundson Brende and Karen Jensine Brendsel Brende.
He served in the Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 22, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
