David Nathan Brown was born on December 20, 1923, in Sherburn, Martin County, Minnesota. He was the son of Erwin Francis Brown and Dolly V.M. Ridgway Brown.
He served in Company A, 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He died from his wounds received in battle on August 15, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
