Herbert Binion Burnes was born on April 1, 1923. He was the son of James Charles Burnes Sr. and Lizzie R. Binion Burnes.
He served in Company A, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division as a Private First Class during World War II. He was Killed in Action on July 21, 1944, during the Battle for Guam.
